Refund Policy

At Muse Hair Extensions, we take the quality of our products very seriously and ensure that our hair is ethically sourced. As this is a natural product, natural imperfections may occur, and these should be considered when purchasing.

We DO NOT offer refunds for change of mind, so please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully before making a purchase on our website.

Returns

We do not offer refunds for any reason related to a ‘change of mind’ after the purchase has been made. This includes situations where the customer reconsiders their purchase, orders the wrong item, or decides not to use the product for personal reasons not associated with a product defect or an error on our part. Refunds will only be issued where required under Australian Consumer Law in cases where the product is defective or not as described. Please note, slight colour variations are not considered a defect, as each batch of our hair extensions is custom-made and may differ slightly due to the natural variation of the hair. Additionally, variations in colour may occur due to different computer screens and device settings. By purchasing from us, you agree to the Terms of Service, which explain that these factors do not constitute a product defect.

If a cancellation is requested, Muse For Hair will assess this case by case and will need special approval before a refund can be issued. All cancellations will incur a transaction fee valued at 5% of the total order. Cancellations of pre-orders, special orders, or custom-made items are not allowed. Due to the personalized nature of these products, once an order is placed, it cannot be cancelled, amended, or refunded for any reason. We strongly encourage you to review your order carefully before completing your purchase.

Muse For Hair is not responsible for any shipping costs upon return shipment for cancellations. Any approved refund will only be issued once the hair has been returned to Muse For Hair Headquarters and assessed by our team. A refund (minus the 5% fee) will only be issued if the hair is deemed in its original condition with the security ties still intact. For hygiene reasons, we cannot accept refunds for any hair that has been removed from its security ties.

Cancellation after order

Please note that we do not allow amendments, changes, or cancellations once an order has been placed. We encourage you to carefully select your items before completing your purchase.

Product defects and errors

If any faults or defects are found with any Muse For Hair product, we will replace the faulty item once the original product is returned by the customer. A refund in this case will only be eligible if the replacement product is unavailable. Defects refer to products that do not meet the description or specifications provided at the time of purchase. Variations in natural hair colour or texture that do not impact the performance of the product are not considered defects.

In the unlikely event that you receive a product that is faulty or defective, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order, and we will do our best to swiftly resolve the issue. Please provide us with your order number and a description of the issue, along with any relevant photo or video evidence. Email us at support@museforhair.com.

You will receive instructions to return the items to us, and all instructions must be followed to ensure your return is correctly processed. To maintain eligibility for your return, customers must provide tracking information confirming the shipment has been made within 14 days of initiating the return process. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of warranty coverage.

Once you have had your hair for longer than 28 days, Muse For Hair is no longer responsible for any faults or defects in the hair. Any concerns outside of the 28-day warranty are now the responsibility of the customer. We will always try to help with any queries, but no returns or exchanges will be processed outside of 28 days from purchase.

Exchanges

We understand that choosing the right colour for your hair extensions can be difficult, which is why we offer an exchange policy. To be eligible for an exchange, the hair must be unused and in its original condition with the security ties still intact. For hygiene reasons, we cannot accept any hair that has been removed from its security ties.

The exchange request must be initiated within 3 days of receiving your order, and customers will be responsible for all shipping costs associated with the exchange, including returning their parcel and receiving their new one. Once the exchange has been processed, an invoice for exchange shipping costs will be sent to the customer and requires payment before their new colour is sent out.

To initiate an exchange, email us at support@museforhair.com and provide us with your order number, and your concern with the hair colour. You will be given instructions to return the hair to us, and once we have received your return parcel, we will process your exchange and send out your new shade.

Please note that all emailed instructions must be followed exactly, and failure to provide the relevant tracking details for your return hair may result in a void of warranty and exchange. Muse For Hair is not responsible for any lost hair in transit or any items sent to the incorrect return address.

Lost or damaged packages

Muse For Hair is not responsible for packages that are lost or damaged during transit. Once the package is handed over to the postal service, it is the customer’s responsibility to monitor the shipment. We will assist in the investigation process with the courier service, but ultimately, it is the customer’s responsibility to follow up with their local postal service if an issue arises.

If an incorrect address is provided at checkout, Muse For Hair will not be held liable for any losses, and the customer will not be eligible for a refund or replacement. We encourage customers to double-check their shipping details before completing their purchase to ensure a smooth delivery process.

Unclaimed packages

If a package is unclaimed by the customer due to non-acceptance or non-retrieval and subsequently returned to us, the customer will not be eligible for a refund. In such cases, we may consider re-sending the package to the customer upon collection of additional shipping fees or offer a refund for the cost of the items only, minus the relevant shipping fees. This refund would also incur the 10% restocking fee required for all refunds as stated above.

Exclusion of liability for hair loss, scalp pain, redness, soreness, or allergy

Muse For Hair will not be liable for any hair loss, scalp pain, redness, soreness, or allergic reactions resulting from the use of our extensions. Customers acknowledge that individual reactions to any products may vary, and our company disclaims any liability for such reactions. It is the customer's responsibility to perform a patch test, follow application instructions diligently, and seek professional or medical assistance if needed. By purchasing our product, the customer agrees to release our company, its affiliates, employees, and suppliers from any claims related to hair loss, scalp pain, redness, soreness, or allergic reaction.

When would my order not be suitable for return/exchange?

  • If you have released the security ties holding the extensions together. Place your natural hair over the top of the bundle to check the colour blends seamlessly; do not untie the extensions if you wish to be eligible for an exchange.
  • If you wash, colour, cut, or tamper with the hair in any way that cannot be reverted back to its original condition.
  • If you use products outside of the Muse recommended hair care range, or ingredients specified not to be used on the extensions.
  • If you have had a ‘change of mind.'
  • If it has been more than 3 days in the case of exchanges, and 14 days in the case of returns, since receiving your order.

International orders and duties

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or fees that may apply to their shipment. These are not included in our prices and must be paid by the customer upon delivery.

How do I get the most wear out of my extensions?
Keep your hair extensions clean. Tape extensions can slip when you have added oil or product buildup in the roots. That doesn't mean you have to wash them every day, but be sure to use alcohol-free dry shampoo to remove oil and product buildup in-between washes. Follow all recommended product uses, and take really good care of your extensions always being gentle.

What products can I use?
It is important that you do not use products with high silicone, sulphates, alcohol, or protein as this may affect the bonds and you may find you get less wear out of your installations.

What should I avoid near my tapes?
In order for your tapes to work properly, it is important you do not use heat styling at the roots as this will make the tape sticky and hard to come off. You also should avoid conditioners, oils and alcohol on or near the tapes. It is normal for the tapes to become a little tacky after about a week of wear, so don't be alarmed by this.

How do I sleep in my extensions?
Keep the hair untangled by taking time to brush the hair every day. We recommend sleeping with your hair in a loose braid, or using a silk hair cap at night time, and never sleep with wet hair extensions.

How often do I need to reinstall the extensions?
Every 2-4 weeks, your hair extensions will need to be reapplied to move the extensions closer to the scalp and to keep your hair healthy. The amount of time depends on how long and how fast your own hair grows. The tape is designed to naturally break down over the weeks, but excess oil in your hair and excessive washing with speed up this process. These aren't the same as regular tape-in extensions, they have a shorter wear time. With that it's important to note that it is totally normal for the hair extension tapes to become a little tacky as the weeks pass. Uses of hairsprays, dry shampoo and any oils will also speed up this process.

Can I comb/brush my hair?
Yes, it is important to keep the hair brushed and detangled, and you should brush your hair several times a day for this purpose. Be sure to hold your extensions at the roots to avoid excess pulling while brushing. Do not comb or brush the hair extensions while hair is wet without holding at the roots, this will cause the tape to slip out.

Can I use hair care products?
Use high quality hair care products but don’t overdo it, too much product can cause build up and tangling over time. So you want to be careful with the amount of product you use. Never use any products containing oil, alcohol or ethanol as this can damage the hair extensions and also wear down on the tape adhesive.

How do I wash my hair?
Use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner, and only ever condition the ends of your hair. Conditioner on the tapes will cause them to slide out. 100% natural hair products will keep hair extensions in good condition. You can shampoo your head/scalp as normal, but be sure to check that your shampoo is extension safe.

Should I use a hair mask?
It is best to use a hair mask once a week to revive your hair extensions. We recommend using a conditioning treatment on the mid-length to ends of your hair extensions. You can use a treatment on your extensions higher up when they have been fully removed and there is no tape on the wefts, but all oils must be completely gone when re-appying tape in order to adhere properly. Remember never to use any oils or conditioners on the roots where your tape extensions are bonded while your extensions are installed, as they will come out. 

Can I dye my extensions?
We do not recommend dyeing your extensions, as they have already been processed and any additional bleaching may ruin the quality of the hair. As your extensions are not attached to a natural hydration source, and further processing of the colour may cause the extensions to become brittle, dry, and the life-span compromised. If you must colour hair your extensions, only go within 2 shades DARKER and use semi or demi hair colour only. However, we strongly advise against colouring hair extensions.

Can I tone my extensions?
Much like dyeing your hair, we do not recommend toning your hair as it has already been processed and may cause the extensions to dry out quickly.

Can I swim and workout in my extensions?
Yes you can! However we do not recommend regular exposure to chlorine, and excessive sweating can cause the tapes to not function as well. Be sure when working out or swimming with your hair extensions, to always remove excess sweat and chlorine after.

Can I use hot tools?
Yes you can. When using hot tools be sure to use a heat protectant spray, and keep all product and direct heat away from the tapes. The more you use heat on your hair, the shorter the life span of the hair extensions. 

Can I use serums/oils?
Yes, when using serums or oils avoid contact with the tape, use on mid-length to ends only.

I have thin hair, will they work for me?
Muse DIY Tape in extensions are not best for those who have lost a significant amount of hair due to any illnesses or for those that have extreme hair thinning. If you aren't able to place sufficient hair over the top of your tape, they may be visible. Consult with your stylist about another option, or feel free to send us a photo for our recommendation to support@museforhair.com

Will the extensions cause hair loss?
Since a person’s average natural hair loss is between 50-100 strands per day you will see a small amount of naturally released hairs in between the tape bonds at time of removal. This is normal and should not be interpreted as hair loss due to wearing hair extensions. You lose hair every day naturally, but when you have tape extensions the hair remains stuck to the tape rather than falling out as it regularly would.

How many sets will I need?
Each DIY Extension Kit comes with 150 grams of hair which are separated in to 7 pieces designed to wrap comfortably around your head. Majority of our clients will only require one set of hair, however if you have extremely thick hair, or very short hair and are required to blend extensively, then you may require 2 sets. Feel free to email us with some photos for our recommendation at support@museforhair.com

Note: Excessive sweat from working out, steam baths, saunas, very humid weather and sea salt swimming may lessen the longevity of the extensions. Precautions should be taken to reduce the amount of exposure to these activities/climates if you want your tape extensions to last the full 4 weeks.
