I have thin hair. Will they work for me?

Our extensions are designed with fine and thinning hair in mind. As the flattest and lightest extensions on the market, they work beautifully for most hair types as long as you have enough natural hair to cover the tapes. Many of our customers with thinning hair achieve stunning results. 

Will extensions cause hair loss?

No. You naturally shed 50 to 100 strands of hair every day. Without extensions, these strands fall away unnoticed. With extensions, they collect on the tape, which can look alarming at first, but this is just your normal shedding, not hair loss. It's completely natural and nothing to worry about.

Can I swim or work out?

Yes, you can enjoy both. Rinse your hair after swimming or exercising to remove chlorine, salt or sweat. Regular exposure to these elements can slightly shorten the wear time.

Can I brush or comb my hair?

Yes. Brush daily to keep your hair soft and tangle free. Hold the extensions at the roots while brushing to avoid pulling, our muse extensions brushes are designed to help with this process. 

How often do they need to be reinstalled?

Most people reapply their extensions every 2-4 weeks, depending on how quickly their hair grows and their scalp's oil production. Muse DIY tapes are designed to last 2-4 weeks, giving you the flexibility to reinstall whenever you're ready.

How many sets will I need?

Each DIY Extension Kit includes 120 to 150 grams of hair, which is perfect for most people. If you have very thick or short hair and need extra blending, a second kit may be ideal. Email us photos if you would like a personalised recommendation.

How can I get the most out of my extensions?

Keep your extensions feeling fresh and secure by keeping your roots clean and free from product build up. You do not need to wash daily. A light spray of alcohol free dry shampoo between washes works perfectly. Always be gentle and follow our care tips to enjoy your extensions for as long as possible.

What products should I use?

Choose lightweight, high quality haircare that is sulphate free, alcohol free and silicone free. These products help your tapes stay in place and your hair stay soft and shiny.

What should I avoid near the tapes?

Avoid using oils, conditioners or heat styling directly on the tape area. This keeps your tapes secure and makes removal easy when it is time for a refresh. It is normal for the tape to feel slightly tacky after a week or two, that is just part of the wear process.

How should I sleep with my extensions?

Brush your hair every day and before bed. Sleep with your hair in a loose braid or use a silk cap at night to prevent tangles and keep your extensions smooth. Always go to bed with dry hair.

Can I use haircare products?

Yes, just keep things light. Too much product can cause build up, so use a small amount and avoid applying anything oily or alcohol based near the roots or tapes.

How should I wash my hair?

Use a sulphate free shampoo on your scalp and apply conditioner only on the mid lengths and ends. Avoid the tape area to keep your bonds secure. Natural, gentle formulas are best for both your hair and your extensions.

Should I use a hair mask?

A weekly mask on the mid lengths to ends will keep your extensions hydrated and silky. Make sure there is no residue left near the tapes before reinstalling.

Can I colour or tone my extensions?

We do not recommend colouring or toning your extensions as they have already been professionally processed. Additional colouring can dry the hair and shorten its lifespan. If you must colour them, go no more than two shades darker using a semi permanent colour.

Can I use hot tools?

Yes, you can style your extensions as usual. Always use a heat protectant and avoid directing heat at the tape area. Frequent high heat styling can reduce the lifespan of the hair.

Can I use serums or oils?

Yes, apply serums or oils only on the mid lengths and ends, keeping them away from the roots and tapes.

Any care tips for longer wear?

Try to avoid excessive sweating, saunas, steam or saltwater when possible. These can weaken the tapes faster. Following our care tips will help you get the full wear time and keep your hair looking amazing.

EXCHANGES

We understand that choosing the right colour for your hair extensions can be difficult, which is why we offer an exchange policy. To be eligible for an exchange, the hair must be unused, in it’s original condition with the security ties still intact.

For hygiene reasons we cannot accept any hair that has been removed from it’s security ties. The exchange request must also be initiated within 3 days of receiving your order. We will gladly exchange your hair for a more suitable colour, and can assist you with the colour matching process. The customer will be responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning the hair to us.

To initiate an exchange, email us at support@museforhair.com and provide us with your order number, and your concern with the hair colour. Any additional information including photos of your own hair and the desired look you are trying to achieve will help this process along more quickly. If you already know what colour you would like to exchange for, then please also include that information. You will then be given instructions to return your hair to us.

Please note that these instructions must be followed exactly, and failure to provide the relevant tracking details for your return hair may result in a void of warranty and exchange. Muse For Hair is not responsible for any lost hair in transit, or any items sent to the incorrect return address. 

RETURNS

We do not offer refunds for any reason related to a ‘change of mind’ after the purchase has been made. This includes situations where the customer reconsiders their purchase, orders the wrong item, or decides not to use the product for personal reasons not associated with a product defect or an error on our part.

If a cancellation is requested after purchase, Muse For Hair will assess this case by case and will need special approval before a refund can be issued. All cancellations will incur a transaction fee imposed by Shopify deducted from the refunded amount, due to the value of 5% of the total order. This fee will not be covered by Muse For Hair, as the order was placed by the customer and the decision to cancel the order was made at the customer’s discretion. 

Muse For Hair is not responsible for any shipping costs upon return shipment for cancellations. Any approved refund will only be issued once the hair has been returned to Muse For Hair Headquarters, and assessed by our team. A refund (minus the 5% fee) will only be issued if the hair is deemed in it’s original condition with the security ties still intact. For hygiene reasons we cannot accept refunds for any hair that has been removed from it’s security ties.

When would my order not be suitable for a return/exchange?

If you have released the security ties holding the extensions together. Place your natural hair over the top of the bundle to check the colour blends seamlessly, do not untie the extensions if you wish to be eligible for an exchange.

If you wash, colour, cut or tamper with the hair in any way that cannot be reverted back to it’s original condition.

If you use products outside of the Muse recommended hair care range, or ingredients specified not to be used on the extensions.

If you have had a ‘change of mind.’
